The great hill of Hermitage is about as impressive and awe-inspiring as any great place in the world.

It could theoretically be the 8th wonder of the world. It as majestic as the great pyramids and as imposing as Mt. Everest and it’s not getting any bigger. That is the allure of Hermitage. When we first started selling wines from Alto Piemonte, even most people in Italy didn’t care about the region. Oh how much things have changed in a few short years.

Since Roberto Conterno purchased Nervi in April of 2018, demand for the wines of Alto Piemonte
has increased significantly. And, unfortunately, it takes several years for supply to catch up if wineries plant new vineyards (at least for the first harvest). Moreover, as odd as it may seem, Italian regulations make it hard to plant new vines where they were not growing already.

This year, we doubled down and got some fantastic new producers. Most are very small production and mostly young people who worked their tails off to make great wine.

We have a new producer who is producing wines in his …
